About the Photographer

I figured I should probably start with telling you a little about me. I am a natural-light photographer based in Nampa, ID. I have been a stay-at-home mom for the last four years and have three beautiful children (which I'm sure you'll see plenty of over the course of this blog) and am a wife to a most wonderful man. I attend CWI part-time (does taking ONE class even qualify as PT? Lol) and plan to attain my Entrepreneurial Business degree, but at the rate I'm going, that may be YEARS from now. :) In my spare time (which is almost never) I enjoy gardening, reading, cooking, movies, and shopping frugally through the use of coupons (check out my other blog for more info. It's discontinued, but there is still a ton of information on there to help you save 50%-90% on your grocery bill! AlisCouponAdventures.blogspot.com.

As for my photography experience, everything I know about photography and post-processing (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc) is all self-taught through countless hours of studying, reading, searching, researching, YouTube 'ing (yes, I create my own words sometimes), etc. I did take a photography class in high school, but I can honestly say I had pretty much forgotten EVERYTHING I learned by the time I started pursuing photography this time around. So I was pretty much starting from scratch. I always dreamed that I could someday offer my services as a professional, but never really found the courage or motivation to get it going. Then, the unthinkable happened. My husband was laid off from his job. It was devastating and I immediately started freaking out. However, it was just the kick in the behind I needed to get my photography business started. I was terrified (and still am on occasions) that I wouldn't be good enough...wouldn't satisfy my customers...wouldn't be able to do it. But none of that mattered. We needed income and it was one way for me to help provide it. Now there's no looking back...and I wouldn't want to.

I am having SOOO much fun and enjoying every minute of my new adventure. I enjoy working with families and hearing and seeing their reaction to the end product. It's satisfying in a way I can't even explain to be able to provide such precious memories for people. I know that I still have so much to learn and I learn something new with every photograph I take. My skills are continuously evolving and I'm growing as a photographer as well as a person. I look so forward to everything that is coming and to everything I will learn.

(Since many have asked, I figured I would list that I use a Canon 7D and if I could only have one lens to use, it would be the Canon 50mm f/1.4. It is so versatile and really works great for just about any kind of session. I process all photos using a combination of Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop Elements 8, and TONS of Photoshop actions from CoffeeShop and MCP Actions.)
